Are you in situations where there is a difference in power or wealth? If so, rudeness may have affected your interactions with those you oversee. In 1 Corinthians, it says that love is not rude. As parents, who all love their children, it’s important to teach, train, and correct them. Have you been rude to children while doing this? It’s very possible. What about the attitude of teachers and shepherds toward people who are under their authority?
Life often leads us to be rude to those we care about. We may take them for granted or feel that our roles as parents, leaders, or employers give us the right to behave this way. Most people don’t intend to be rude; it often starts slowly and then becomes a habit. If left unchecked, rudeness can become a part of our daily lives. If you realize this in yourself, seek forgiveness.
Dear friends, let’s reflect on our attitudes, words, and actions towards those dear to us. Am I being rude to the people God has placed in my life? Having authority doesn’t mean I can treat others poorly. Perhaps God wants you to hear this message today. Pay attention to your interactions over the next few days and notice if you are being rude. If you believe it’s out of love for others, you are mistaken. True love is not rude.
Could we imitate God, the King of kings and Lord of Lords, who has all authority, power, and knowledge, while being full of love and never rude?
Check any rudeness that invade love.
