The King who satisfies is born

How many of you have met a king or ruler? There were times you hoped they would make the world better. I remember waiting on the side of the road, hoping to see the President and Prime Ministers pass by. Their protected convoys show that they are important figures and not easy to reach. If you have influence, you might get closer to them for a photo or handshake. But all rulers know one thing better than most: they can’t truly meet everyone’s needs. There is one exception to this.

That is King Jesus. He was born to be near His people, taking a human form. However, the true meaning of His birth often gets overlooked in the chaos of life. Is He a different kind of King than others? Yes, He is!

Jesus is the only King who can truly meet the needs of His people. The gospel contains many stories that show this. One example is when He fed 15,000 hungry people with fish and bread from a young boy’s small lunch. In contrast, the rulers of this world spend millions on social programs, yet poverty still exists even in developed countries. Matthew, the Gospel writer and eyewitness, based on the above miracle act, writes:

They all ate and were satisfied, and they picked up the broken pieces left over, twelve baskets full. (Matt. 14:20 NET)

Here is a King who is near to the people and meets their needs. The people are satisfied. You should also not neglect the fact that, as a King who owns everything, Jesus doesn’t allow waste. Isn’t it ironic that the birthday of the King has become a time of unwise use of resources and dissatisfaction? Wouldn’t that be a message both kings and common men need to hear? Most importantly, where are you looking for satisfaction? The King who can satisfy the needs and desires of every soul is born. He can do it. He is willing to do it.

The King is born!
